Advent IV. Choose Pops

An adoring matinee audience is full of excitement as you open your viola case and begin to tune. The curtain rises, as does the orchestra pit, and you play your one millionth flat seven chord of the season. Away we go!

A true Festival of Carols, this playlist features a variety of pops-orchestral favorites, plus some new ones, including an operatic ‘Feliz Navidad’ and at least 144 days of Christmas. Medley Kitschmas!

Advent III. Choose Disco

You slip past the bouncer at Studio 25, New York’s hottest dance club of 1979. The trumpet-flare pants shall sound, and a mirror ball bathes the club in twinkly snowfall. You put on your sunglasses.

Disco meets Kitsch meets Christmas, starting and ending with selections from the unparalleled “Ethel Merman Disco Album” and featuring a new Christmas medley from the Salsoul Orchestra. Enjoy!

Advent II. Choose Dreck

You stop by the Double R Diner for some coffee and pie. The stoplight outside swings back and forth, and an owl stares at you from a fir tree across the street. Things are definitely getting weird.

Featuring 12 plays of kitschmas, each with its unique ‘charms’. Starting with Lynne McNeil’s relentless 12 days, then featuring 10 Kitschmas classics, followed by another 12 days from an artist called ‘bongolong’. Enjoy…?

Advent I. Choose Lounge

You enter the Tinsel Tavern at the I70/465 Howard Johnson, 1964. You order an eggnog and slide into a red leather banquette. The band begins to play a groovy setlist.

Featuring a 5-track excerpt from Choose Your Own Advent, followed by loungey tracks from throughout the Kitschmas oevre. We finish with Side A from Japan’s “Big Beat XMas” (1973).
